I’ve been pretty obsessed with food halls ever since I visited the Oxbow Public Market in Napa in 2010. Sure I grew up going to farmers’ markets and  I loved the Pikes Place Market in Seattle, but this felt different. Every gourmet food item imaginable– fresh shucked oysters, crepes, charcuterie all under one roof, ready to eat there or take away. For a foodie like me, it was absolutely overwhelming, in the best possible way. I’ve been delighted to see more and more food halls like this popping up across the country. The United States has many historic food halls as well and markets like the Grand Central Market in Los Angles have recently been given spiffy makeovers. I wrote about the country’s best foods halls for Travel & Leisure and you can read my story here.
