The Pie Hole’s brick exterior.

This blueberry hued pie shop on a quaint street in Downtown LA’s burgeoning Arts District may just be my version of heaven. It gives you a dose of the holiday season even if temps in sunny Southern California do not. With steel pendant lighting and concrete floors, the atmosphere is industrial but still manages to feel warm and cozy. The pastry case is filled with flavors like apple, bourbon pecan and an absolutely unforgettable light, airy pumpkin that, to me, tastes like a cross between pumpkin pie and crème brulee. The Pie Hole also serves savory pies like turkey and stuffing encased within a thick buttery crust. Don’t pass up the incredibly moist pumpkin spice bread if they have it– basically, just plan on a to go box!

Popular German sausage joint Wurstkuche is across the street so you could always grab a brat for lunch or dinner and pop over to the Pie Hole for dessert, but if you’re like me and prefer pie for breakfast go right when they open at 11 am.
